Perry Johnson announces campaign for U.S. President

Malachi Barrett

This week a disqualified candidate for Michigan governor launched his bid for President of the United States.

Perry Johnson is a Michigan businessman. His bid for the Republican gubernatorial nomination fell flat last year after the state's elections bureau found his campaign filed thousands of fraudulent signatures. Johnson said his rights were violated during the process.

Thursday...he formally launched his presidential campaign at a conservative political conference in Washington D-C. Johnson stresses the importance of reining in federal spending and stimulating the economy.

Johnson ran a TV ad in Iowa during the Super Bowl last month to introduce himself to potential Republican caucus voters.   He plans to campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire in the coming weeks.
