Proposal for GVSU Allendale Campus

The plan focuses on technology and diverse learners

Grand Valley State University’s downtown Grand Rapids campus will evolve with the area surrounding the Seidman Center incorporating a greenspace “campus quad.” Across Fulton Street West along the Grand River, the nine story Eberhard Center will be renovated and expanded as part of the Blue Dot project with addition of the new Center for Talent, Technology and Transformation. The downtown Grand Rapids Pew Campus will also house a student center and dining hall.

Classrooms will be renovated, and new technologies will support nursing and health sciences programs at the Grand Rapids Health Campus.

Trustee Elizabeth Emmitt explained, “The approval of the campus Master Plan does not represent a commitment of capital but does help focus the vision and anticipated capital projects for Grand Valley campuses and aligns them to support Reach Higher 2025.”

On the Allendale campus, a transportation infrastructure shakeup diverting traffic to Laker Drive opening greenspace and pedestrian walkways. Athletic facilities will continue receiving upgrades along with a Kirkhof Center expansion and renovation. The modernization of decades old campus living centers are also planned.
