Man sentenced after sending threatening emails to court official

A Benzonia man was found guilty Monday, Feb. 6 of sending harassing and intimidating emails to a court administrator in Benzie County.

43-year-old Ryan King was convicted of Malicious Use of Telecommunications Service and Using a Computer to Commit a Crime, according to a written statement from the state Attorney General. Authorities said he sent an email containing a veiled death threat.

AG Dana Nessel said in the release such threats are “terroristic” and posed a "significant danger to democracy."

King was sentenced in Manistee County district court to two years of probation with one year of jail time suspended.
