Nikki Storey, President of the Great Lakes Boat Building School in Cedarville, recently received national recognition. She was named the 2022 Woman of the Year by the Marine Retailers Association of America.

Storey didn’t grow up on the water and didn’t own a boat until recently; but was crowned the Marine Woman of the Year.

She credits the growth of the Boat Building School to the school's expansion in 2022.

The school had received nearly $3 million from the federal government to expand campus infrastructure and program offerings.

"Right now students can graduate with up to eight certifications, which just really sets them up for success as they go out into the industry to begin working because then their employers and marinas and the dealers can put them right to work on those products," said Storey.

Storey said since they have doubled the size of the campus, they’re hoping now to double the size of enrollment.
