U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg visited west Michigan’s 3rd Congressional district motivating canvassers and stumping on behalf of Democratic candidate Hillary Scholten.
“We know what we’re up against. There are leaders, or so-called leaders, who seem to think politics is about getting the most clicks or retweets online…or we could have people who think politics is about how you can use the tools of government to make everyday life better for Americans.” said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. He's throwing his support behind Democrat Hillary Scholten who’s running against Republican John Gibbs in west Michigan’s 3rd U.S. House district. Scholten’s top issue is protecting a woman’s reproductive rights.
Buttigieg says voters have a clear choice.
“It is between people who are focused on banning books and people who are focused on building bridges.” said Buttigieg.
Buttigieg visited the Kent County Democratic Party headquarters in Grand Rapids Friday morning energizing volunteers.
“What we’re building right now is something that by the time my kids are old enough to ask us what we did in these sensitive years of the early 2020’s, we’ll have a really good answer. Because what we are building is nothing less than a fully inclusive, safe, representative democracy.”
Buttigieg making the case voters preserve it voting for Scholten.
