Then-Federal Reserve Board Chair Janet Yellen speaks during a briefing in 2017. President-elect Joe Biden reportedly will nominate Yellen as his Treasury secretary.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen was in Dearborn on Thursday, September 8, touring Ford’s River Rouge Electric Vehicle plant. She touched on a number of Biden Administration talking points in a speech.

Yellen says inflation remains the number one issue facing the president, although she says responsibility for addressing the matter doesn’t fall completely on his shoulders.

“This administration’s top priority is to combat inflation, even as we know the Federal Reserve has the primary role to play in restoring price stability."

Secretary Yellen was the first Biden Administration official to speak following the death of Queen Elizabeth the Second. Yellen opened her speech by sharing her condolences with the royal family and British people.
