A Portland, Oregon-based outdoor footwear company is making a major investment in West Michigan moving its headquarters to Grand Rapids.
HOLO Footwear launched in 2020, manufacturing outdoor shoes and boots constructed with recycled materials. Affordable and tapping into consumer demand for environmentally responsible products, the minority-owned business has grown at a rapid rate. HOLO footwear hitting the shelves last year at Backcountry, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Public Lands and REI.
Its growth led to the need for expanding its headquarters. It could stay in Portland, Oregon, or move out-of-state to North Carolina or Michigan. With assistance from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and regional economic development nonprofit, The Right Place, HOLO Footwear is moving its HQ to GR.
It’s making a $1.6 million capital investment at 50 Louis St. NW in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. HOLO will open e-commerce operation, creating 61 new jobs.

The MEDC is providing a $250,000 performance-based grant. The Right Place assisted with HOLO’s relocation.
