Absentee ballots for the upcoming August primary elections are now available at clerk’ offices statewide. Michelle Jokisch Polo spoke with Ingham County’s Clerk about the process.
Barb Byrum says all U.S. citizens in Michigan have a right to request an absentee ballot:
“So voters may contact our local city or township clerk and request that absentee ballot be sent to them. Or they can go to their local clerk's office and request that ballot in person.”
The Ingham County Clerk says Michiganders who want to vote absentee have to request a ballot every election cycle even if they’ve received one in the past.
The last day to request an absentee ballot is July 29th. After that, voters can register and cast their ballots at their clerk’s election offices up until and through Election Day August 2nd.
