Michigan tourism is projected to reach pre-pandemic levels this summer.
Eight out of 10 surveyed people are putting an emphasis on travel and many say they value it more than they did before the pandemic.
That’s according to a marketing survey presented at the Pure Michigan tourism conference.
The industry is hoping to capture some of that wanderlust in Michigan.
While hotel stays were up in some parts of the state during the pandemic event bookings went down.
The state is hoping more people come for blended work and travel.
But industry marketers say inflation and gas prices will likely decrease tourist spending this summer.
And workforce challenges and lack of direct flights to resort areas may limit the state’s ability to bring in more visitors.
