Instead of opening next month, the planned debut of a new visitor’s center at the Michigan Capitol is being pushed back until mid or late June.
The 40-million dollar Heritage Hall project will include a multi-purpose room in the Capitol basement.
But, as Capitol Commission Executive Director Robert Blackshaw explained, a contractor is having trouble getting aluminum to be used as paneling for a glass wall.
He said it’s part of a worldwide supply chain crunch.
“This is something of raw materials that most people are having issues with. It's just compounding globally, as we're all witnessing.”
Heritage Hall is being built at the northwest corner of Capitol Square in downtown Lansing.
