A federal grand jury has charged six men with conspiring to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. The suspects are (from top left) Kaleb Franks, Brandon Caserta and Adam Fox, and (from bottom left) Daniel Harris, Barry Croft and Ty Garbin.

Another man has agreed to plead guilty over the alleged plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Six men were facing charges in federal court over the alleged plot. One had already pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against the rest.

Now, with the trial just over a month away, a second man has signed an agreement to plead guilty and cooperate.

Kaleb Franks had been arguing, along with the other four remaining defendants, that the whole scheme to kidnap the governor and blow up a bridge was driven, really, by the undercover FBI agents and informants in the case.

The defendants have been arguing they were entrapped. But now, Franks says in a plea agreement that there was no entrapment, and the men were serious. If he cooperates, he could get a break on his prison sentence.

The other four men face the possibility of life in prison, if they’re convicted.
