State Senator Adam Hollier is the latest to announce his candidacy for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District.

As soon as Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence said she was retiring from Congress and Rashida Tlaib said she’d be switching from the 13th Congressional District to the newly-redrawn 12th, Hollier had the opportunity to run and represent the district he already covers in the state senate. He says he's running to work on the country's fixable flaws.

“The system is not designed to provide affordable childcare it is not designed to provide affordable health care or even safe secure housing our systems are not designed to do that.”

But the challenge is substantial.

The former firefighter and current Army Lieutenant will run against former Detroit police chief Ralph Godbee, former state Representative Sherry Gay-Dagnogo and current state Representative Shri Thanedar.
