Ingham County’s Election Commission has again rejected petition language that would start the recall process against Lansing City Council Member Brandon Betz.

Betz faces calls for his resignation after sending profane and combative text messages to an activist in February. But commissioner Eric Schertzing says the proposed petition language is unclear.

“It’s all factual, but it's just like, ‘What does this mean?’ This was an exchange of unfortunate words between one or two troubled individuals at a moment in time. And then I'm lost.”

An attorney behind the recall says she plans to appeal Monday’s decision.
