The Jackson Public School District is giving one-thousand-dollar bonuses to employees who get at least one dose of a COVID vaccine by December 1st.

People with religious or medical exemptions will also get the pay bump even if they haven’t had a shot. Assistant Superintendent Kriss Giannetti says the school system wants to say “thank you.”

“COVID has taken its toll on everyone this year.”

The district does not require vaccines for staff. It’s funding the bonuses using nearly a million dollars in federal relief money.
