State Senator Tom Barrett is launching a 2022 bid for Congress in Mid-Michigan.
The Charlotte Republican announced his run for the House of Representatives in a video highlighting his military experience. It also blasts President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate for military members and other federal workers.
“Every soldier, every American has the freedom to make that choice for themselves.”
In the video, Barrett suggests people like him who've previously had COVID shouldn’t be forced to get the vaccine. The CDC has found vaccines provide more consistent and robust immunity compared to immunity from being infected.
New district boundaries are still being finalized, but Barrett could be setting up a run against Democratic incumbent Elissa Slotkin.
