U.S. Department of Labor Chief Economist promotes Biden Administration's agenda in Michigan

The U.S. Department of Labor’s chief economist promoted the Biden administration’s agenda on Monday at a Michigan policy forum.

Janelle Jones touched upon many subjects, including unions, child-care support and family and medical leave.

She also highlighted an effort to decrease equity-gaps in state unemployment insurance services.

“We have awarded $260 million in equity grants to state UI systems, a first of its kind undertaking for the department. These funds aim to improve outreach and customer service with an eye towards addressing potential ethic and racial disparities.”

Meanwhile, the governor announced a new pick to permanently lead the state Unemployment Insurance Agency.
