The leader of a northern Michigan health department has filed a complaint with the state Attorney General against her Board of Health.

Lisa Peacock alleges the board overseeing the Health Department of Northwest Michigan started a campaign of harassment against her after she issued a mask mandate for K-through-12 schools.

The health officer says members stood by and piled on as a mob-like crowd of hundreds of angry people disrupted a public meeting in September… and threatened her.

Peacock says she and her staff feared for their safety at the meeting… and required a police escort to leave the building.

The Attorney General’s Office received the complaint, but a spokesperson says it must be handled by local law enforcement first.

Most of the members of the Board of Health did not respond to requests for comment about the allegations.

One board member declined to comment.
