Free KN 95 face masks are being offered in Emmet, Grand Traverse and Benzie counties

We hear a lot lately about people protesting face masks, but there are many others who still wear them and want them.

150-thousand face masks are up for grabs in northern Michigan starting Wednesday. The United Way of Northwest Michigan and the local Agency on Aging will host distribution days in Emmet, Grand Traverse, and Benzie counties.

Executive Director of the United Way, Seth Johnson said this is the second time this year they’ve hosted mask distribution events.

"So we did one earlier this year where we distributed 250,000 masks at three different public distribution sites and through our different agency partners. Now we are going to do another round of distribution, kind of as we head into later fall and winter. "

Johnson said after the first round, his group received requests for more distribution events. The KN 95 masks are provided by the state of Michigan. They’re free to anyone who shows up.

Below are the dates and times of drive-up for the counties listed below:

Emmet
Date: Wednesday, October 6th
Time: 2pm – 6pm (or until masks are gone)
Location: Emmet County Fairgrounds, 1129 Charlevoix Ave., Petoskey, MI 49770

Grand Traverse
Date: Friday, October 8th
Time: 2pm – 6pm (or until masks are gone)
Location: Turtle Creek Stadium, 333 Stadium Drive, Traverse City, MI 49685

Benzie
Date: Tuesday, October 12th

Time: 2pm – 6pm (or until masks are gone)

Distribution will be ten masks per person, per vehicle, with a maximum of 50 per vehicle, with drive-up delivery of masks. The mask distribution will end at the times above or until all masks have been distributed, whichever is first. For the safety of our volunteers, we ask that all persons in their vehicles wear a mask.
