A twelve bill police reform package goes before the state Senate Judiciary committee on Thursday. The bills address a wide-range of issues, from use of excessive force to search warrants.

Democratic state Senator Erika Geiss was a guest on Stateside Tuesday.

She says the death of George Floyd a year ago helped develop bipartisan support for the legislation.

“It’s hard to ignore it when you are seeing it, unfold unfortunately in real time like we did a year ago.”

Geiss says it’s important to make progress on police reform, even if the change is only ‘incremental’.
