With the Ford Field mass vaccination site shutting down, state officials are changing strategy to get more people COVID vaccines.

The Ford Field vaccination site closed at 8:30 Monday night.

The federally run mass vaccination site at Detroit's Ford Field ran for eight weeks. Officials say they gave out more than 275 thousand vaccine doses. But now they say demand for vaccines is sliding.

Kerry Ebersole-Sing is with the Protect Michigan Commission running the states vaccine campaign.

She says 70% of respondents in a new statewide survey said they've either been vaccinated already or have plans to do so.

“There is however some strong resistance among those not yet vaccinated.”

Ebbersole-Sing says the state will turn its focus to door-to-door community outreach to convince more people to get vaccinated.
