Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey says she is running for another term. Winfrey has served in the role since 2005, overseeing Detroit’s elections and records keeping. She says the 2021 city election, where she will seek her fifth term in office, will operate similarly to last year’s.
“We will be utilizing TCF," said Winfrey. "Yes, we will continue to use our satellites and our drop boxes. And we will mail to our constituents. And yes, I do plan on running for City Clerk again.”
Winfrey’s tenure has been marred by widespread problems, like voting irregularities and delays at polling centers. Detroit’s citywide primary is August 3rd.
