Weiser won’t resign, despite regents asking

University of Michigan regent Ron Weiser won't resign following violent and misogynistic remarks about elected officials.

At a board meeting Friday, regents had strong words for fellow U of M regent and Michigan Republican Party Chairman Ron Weiser. Last week Weiser called the top three democratic leaders in the state "witches" and that they were quote "ready for the burning at the stake."

U of M Regents noted the plot to kidnap and kill Whitmer. Regent Jordan Acker told Weiser advocating violence is unacceptable.

"Make no mistake, that is precisely what you did," said Acker. "You have forced this board to take this painful and permanent step to condemn one of our own."

Weiser offered an apology, but refused to resign and said quote - “I will not be canceled.”
