Michigan officials have announced that all adults in the state will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in early April.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and state health officials said Friday that Michiganders age 16 and up can sign up for a vaccine regardless of health conditions on April 5th.

The state is also expanding eligibility for those 16 and older with disabilities or medical conditions beginning March 22nd.

Michigan Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun says it's important that everyone get vaccinated.

“These vaccines are the way that we are going to end this pandemic and the more quickly that people get vaccinated the more quickly we'll be able to do that," said Khaldun.

The announcement comes a day after President Joe Biden said he would direct states to make the vaccine available to all adults by May 1st.
