It’s been one year since the first cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in Michigan.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer says she sees the light at the end of the tunnel but with more ground to cover to get there, both medically and legislatively speaking.

Saying we’ve come a long way in coping with the now, year-long pandemic, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer says she is hopeful life will soon be getting back to what could be considered more normal especially as more people are vaccinated.

“We just simply need to get the politics out of this public health conversation and rise to this challenge, so we each possess an ability that contributes to us getting there”

The governor expressed frustration that there is still several billion dollars in federal aid that has not yet been distributed by the legislature after vetoing several proposals which were tied to diminishing her power to make pandemic plans.  The governor also denied she did anything wrong in dealing with Michigan nursing homes in the pandemic which a Michigan prosecutor plans to investigate.
