Grand Valley State University is offering a tuition-free program for low-income students.
Beginning in the 2021 fall semester, qualifying low-income students can receive free tuition through the Grand Valley Pledge. A program removing financial barriers.
“Focus on families with incomes of less than $50,000, adjusted gross income, and make sure that these prospective learners have a great opportunity to come to Grand Valley State University.”
Students from six Michigan counties; Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Grand Traverse, Calhoun and Wayne counties.
Danta Truss is Vice President of Enrollment Development and Educational Outreach. He explains it’s about making higher education available to everyone. An opportunity for highly talented students who often have to make difficult financial decisions.
“We think it also enriches our university as we are pushing forward in regards to making sure we push the equity agenda. And we believe this is a big part of some gaps that people are seeing across the country. People not being able to afford to come to college and we’re trying to, you know, eliminate that or reduce it as much as we can.”
Interested students must enroll and complete the federal student aid application. Accepted students will receive four years tuition through the university’s institutional aid.
