Governor Gretchen Whitmer is attending the inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris tomorrow (Wednesday).

Governor Whitmer announced in a press release Tuesday she would be in attendance at the inauguration in Washington D.C.

Whitmer served as a co-chair of the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

Biden has also nominated her to serve as a Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Prior to Biden’s selection of Kamala Harris as his running mate, the governor was seen as a front-runner for the position. Whitmer was thrust into the national spotlight for her handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the criticism she received from President Donald Trump.

The inaugural ceremonies begin Wednesday morning at 11:30.
