Congresswoman Haley Stevens says she’s safe in the Capitol Complex office on the House side.

“I believe what we are witnessing are things that we have seen occur and manifest in the state capitol here in Michigan, potentially at a smaller level because they weren't protesters coming from the White House taking charges from an outgoing president. I believe that we will be able to resume House floor activity shortly. I'm here to take votes and defend our democracy. There have been several suspicious packages previously in the day that have led Capitol Police to evacuate multiple adjacent buildings within the Capitol compound. Plex protesters have overtaken the Capitol have stormed their way in.”

Stevens says she is confident they’ll be able to get back to work.
