The application deadline for the state's Futures for Frontliners program is December 31st. State officials are urging more eligible Michiganders to apply.
The program offers free tuition towards an associate degree or industry-recognized certificate at community college.
Applicants must have worked in an essential industry during the state's COVID-19 shutdown in spring 2020.
Kerry Ebersole is with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
"It's opening up an opportunity for these frontline workers to pursue their educational dreams and also put them on a path to a more prosperous future."
Ebersole says preparing Michiganders for high-demand careers is key to the state's economic growth and prosperity.
