During a Monday court hearing, a federal judge says she plans to keep the “pedal to the metal” on a partial settlement of legal claims tied to the Flint water crisis.
U.S. District Judge Judith Levy says she plans on issuing a ruling on the proposed $641-million-dollar master settlement next month.
The money would be divided among Flint residents and others impacted by the city’s lead tainted tap water. The bulk of the money is earmarked for children under the age of six.
The state of Michigan, McLaren Hospital Flint and a local engineering firm are covered by the agreement. The city of Flint would be as well if the city council agrees.
The settlement would not end all water crisis lawsuits.
