One of the world’s richest women donated 5 million dollars to Goodwill Northern Michigan yesterday. (Thursday)
Scott is the former wife of Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos.
In the past four months, she’s given $4.2 billion dollars to 384 organizations across the country.
Goodwill Northern Michigan Executive Director Dan Buron says they want to be thoughtful about how the money is spent.
“I think a big part of what we’re going to be doing is working, engaging with community and different thought leaders and people who have lived experience about, How do you leverage this?” said Buron.
Buron says they will focus the money on reducing food and housing insecurity.
