The Associated Press has called the race for Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin in Michigan’s battleground eighth congressional district.

Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin flipped the eighth district, which covers Oakland, Ingham and Livingston counties, from red to blue in 2018.

This year, despite President Trump being poised to carry the district again, she fended off a challenge from Republican Paul Junge.

“To win in a district that again went for Donald Trump, to win in a stronger way than we did with more votes—even with COVID, and our Michigan state students not being back.”

In a speech, Slotkin said she views the election as one of three phases, phase two will be the next 78 days and a peaceful transition of power, and phase three will be healing the country’s divisions.

Slotkin won with 51 percent of the vote to Junge’s 47 percent—a bigger margin than her 2018 victory.
