About 250 people marched in downtown Detroit last night. protesting racial injustice and police brutality. It came after no charges were filed against police officers tied to the death of Breonna Taylor.

A warm night and an added sense of purpose fueled the protest that made its way through the city streets. The crowd was noisy. but peaceful.

Tristan Taylor is one of the leaders with Detroit Will Breathe – the city’s most organized protest group. When told of the shooting of two police officers in Louisville. he said he understands the rage and it doesn’t damage the cause.

“Oh no they definitely don’t hurt the movement. That's just an expression of the righteous anger that exists. And that's what you get when you stop people from getting real justice.”

For all the national talk of riots and police brutality. there would be none on this night. The only Detroit Police Department presence was a helicopter circling hundreds of feet above the march.
