A program set up after the Flint water crisis is helping residents deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Flint Registry was created in the wake of the water crisis to help people get connected to health and social services.

Doctor Mona Hanna Attisha says the public health infrastructure also helps city residents deal with the coronavirus.

“We were ready once again support the people of Flint by connecting them to education, nutrition, health care...mental health care services because we had done that work during our last public health crisis,” said Attisha.

Current federal funding for the Flint Registry is set to expire next year.

The House included two years of additional funding in its current budget proposal. The U-S Senate has not acted yet.
