Ingham County limits gatherings in part of East Lansing

The Ingham County Health Department is limiting outdoor gatherings to no more than 25 people in part of East Lansing. The county’s latest effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Outdoor gatherings in Michigan are currently restricted to 100 people or less under Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s executive order. Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail is taking that restriction a step further in East Lansing.

Tuesday’s emergency order limits social outdoor gatherings to no more than 25 people in an area north of Michigan State University’s campus known for large house parties.

Some places exempt from the order include schools and childcare centers, restaurants, and places of worship.

The order remains in place indefinitely and is one of many local mandates recently issued to prepare for the return of students for MSU’s fall semester.
