A former Super Bowl champion says he was a victim of Dr. Robert Anderson during his time at the University of Michigan.

Dwight Hicks was co-captain of the University of Michigan football team in 1977, and went on to play for both the San Francisco 49ers and the Indianapolis Colts.

At a press conference Wednesday, he says for years he suppressed his memories of abuse, and that even now, some of his fellow former athletes aren't ready to talk about it:

"I was on a zoom call with some of the guys, and some of the guys didn't want to say themselves personally what had happened to them, to, as you say, face the music," said Hicks. "Because it is personal."

Attorneys say the University needs to recognize Anderson's victims, the majority of whom they say are African Amercian, with a financial settlement on par with the record 500-million settlement reached in the Larry Nassar case.
