The state of Michigan has leveled a 3-million dollar fine against a major liquor distributor.

Michigan Radio’s Steve Carmody reports.

Michigan liquor retailers struggled with shortages starting in the Spring of 20-19 and through the holiday season.

The Michigan Liquor Control Commission received hundreds of complaints pointing the finger at the Republic National Distributing company.

Complaints ranged from delayed or missed deliveries to a lack of customer service.

In addition to the $3 million fine, the company will have to comply with an independent audit.

In a written statement a company spokesman apologizes for "difficulties" in 2019 and added they're glad to put the matter behind them.
