Expect delays if you are traveling over the Mackinac Bridge this weekend.
In an effort to slow the spread of covid-19, the Mackinac Bridge Authority stopped accepting cash in mid-March.
They are still accepting the Macpass, credit and debit cards and other touchless digital payment methods.
James Lake, spokesman for the Mackinac Bridge Authority says these types of payments may result in traffic delays.
“Those methods take a little bit longer to process. It’s really only a matter of seconds, but those seconds add up when everyone is paying that way.”
Lake expects traffic to be busy this Friday Afternoon and Evening and much of the day Sunday.
