Federal prosecutors have charged Gary Jones, the former President of the United Auto Workers, with two felonies, including embezzlement.
Jones is the highest-ranking official charged so far in an FBI investigation of corruption in the union.
Jones is accused of spending embezzled union funds on private villas, golf clubs and green fees, liquor, and cigars.
He's the 14th person charged so far in the FBI investigation.
Wayne State University Law Professor, Peter Henning, said the corruption is so widespread, a federal takeover of the union isn't out of the question.
"It wouldn't surprise me if the U.S. attorneys office threatened a RICO suit and said to the union you've got to reform yourself,” he said.
The Justice Department said others will be charged. One is likely Dennis Williams, who ran the union before Jones.
