A Republican state senator faces a formal investigation into whether he sexually harassed a young journalist seeking an interview.

Senator Peter Lucidohas already apologized for what he calls “a misunderstanding.”

The reporter’s account was published online in Michigan Advance. She says Lucido made the comments in front of a boys high school group visiting the state Capitol. Her story quotes Lucido as saying; “You could have a lot of fun with these boys, or they could have a lot of fun with you.”

That drew a rebuke from state Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, who called the behavior “unacceptable.”

“I take this very seriously and intend to have a very intense and lengthy private conversation with the senator.”

There is no word on what the inquiry might entail and what the potential penalties might be if the Macomb County Republican is found culpable.
