The UP Energy Task Force met in Marquette Tuesday to talk about how propane would be supplied to customers in the event of a disruption in service.
Eighteen percent, or about 22-thousand households in the Upper Peninsula, use propane as a primary heating source.
Jenn Hill is a task force member and Mayor Pro-Tem of Marquette. She says residents are worried about a possible shutdown of Enbridge’s Line 5 and what fuel would replace propane if that happens.
“There’s been a lot of commentary about how we need to be ready for the potential of a possible disruption.” :09
The task force must plan for long-term interruptions – like a breakdown in the supply chain… as well as short-term disruptions – as when a polar vortex descends into the U.P.
The group will make recommendations on propane delivery to Governor Whitmer by March 31, 2020.
