Lansing is planning to provide cooling stations if temperatures reach over ninety five degrees later this week.
The cooling stations will be located at some of the CATA bus stations, Meijer, the library and several homeless shelters.
Joan Jackson Johnson is the director for Human Relations and Community Services in Lansing.
She says the safety of everyone is important and they want to keep people out of the heat as long as possible.
“The homeless shelters will all have extended time where people can remain at those shelters when necessary to make sure that they are out of the elements.”
Bottled water will be available at many of the cooling stations. Pets and animals are permitted at some locations but the city recommends calling beforehand as many cannot accommodate them.
