Enbridge Energy fails to release information on Line 5 Anchor Strike

Last August, Enbridge Energy said they would release all information on an anchor strike to the Line 5 oil pipelines - that hasn’t happened yet.

The Line 5 oil pipelines in the straits of Mackinac were struck by an anchor last April.

Then this happened at a hearing held by U-S Senator Gary Peters a few months later:

“Will you provide full documentation of the damage sustained to Line 5 by the anchor strike, including all video and images. Will you commit to doing that?

‘Yes’

You will? That’s great”

That’s Enbridge’s V-P David Bryson, pledging to release the information.

But now, over eight months later, Enbridge hasn’t released anything to the public.

In a statement to I-P-R, Enbridge says the U-S Coast Guard hasn’t finished their investigation on the anchor strike - so they can’t release anything.

But a representative for the Coast Guard says they are “unaware of the Coast Guard asking Enbridge to not release any data.”

The Coast Guard says their investigation has entered its final phase and could be released in the next few months.
