Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says her office has received more than 300 tips about allegations of sexual abuse by Catholic priests.

And she’s asking other victims to talk to law enforcement - not the church.

“And what I would like to say to the public is this.    If an investigator comes to your door and asks to speak with you, please ask to see their badge and not their rosary.”

Nessel is asking Catholic church leaders not to conduct their own investigations into the allegations.

Investigators raided offices of all seven Catholic dioceses last fall.   Nessel says her office is continuing to review hundreds of thousands of pages seized in those raids.

Church leaders have said they are cooperating in the investigation.  But investigators do not agree.
