Former MSU president Lou Anna K Simon has been charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors. The Attorney General’s office says Simon lied when she told investigators that she didn’t know specifics about a 2014 internal investigation into former sports doctor Larry Nassar.

Nassar is the former MSU sports doctor who sexually assaulted his patients for years.

Morgan McCaul is a survivor of Nassar. She says she found out about the charges from fellow Nassar survivor, Amanda Thomashow.

“We were both just, just speechless because we had kind of given up on the possibility of this happening after so long.”

Simon is the third MSU official to be charged during the course of an investigation by the Attorney General’s office. The investigation is aimed at how Nassar was able to work at MSU and abuse his patients there for years.

Emily Guerrant is a spokesperson for Michigan State. Simon had stepped down as president under criticism following Nassar’s conviction. But she was still an employee of the school.

“Former president Lou Anna Simon is taking an immediate leave of absence, without pay, to focus on her legal situation.”

Simon’s attorney says there is no truth to the allegations.
