The state is looking for new ideas on how to prevent child abuse. They’re encouraging communities with grant funding.  Max Cobb reports

The Children’s Trust Fund  is offering a half a million dollars in grant funding.

Bob Wheaton is with the Department of Health and Human Services. He said there are a number of proposals the Trust Fund is looking for.

“There are home visitation programs such as the Healthy Families America and Parents as Teachers programs. There are services for families with incarcerated parents, there are parent education support groups that are conducted at family resource centers in local communities.”

Wheaton said the Children Trust fund supports a number of  services statewide, and the hope is to fund more.
