April is Donate Life Month, and Wednesday is Donate Life Day, with a push to encourage organ donations.
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson says that since she began having staff and branch offices ask people to consider signing up for the Michigan Organ Donor Registry, the number of adults on the registry has more than doubled.
For Donate Life Day, she says organ, tissue and cornea recipients will be at branch offices with donor family members to help spread the word.
Secretary Johnson says that while the registry has grown, more than 32-hundred people in Michigan are still on transplantation waiting lists.
Many Michigan Secretary of State branch offices are open until 7 p-m today.
