Huron County township taking care of three week trash problem

A Huron County township is taking care of a trash problem that’s been piling up for three weeks.

Brookfield Township signed a contract Tuesday with a new garbage collector, after their previous hauler, Diva Disposal, went out of business and left little time for the township to find a replacement.

Charlie Timmons is the Township Supervisor.

He said residents were not very happy with the pile up.

“Some weren’t. Especially the ones who didn't get it picked up.”

The new company, Emterra is slated to begin on Thursday.

“This is the first year we ever had contracted with someone to pick up all the trash, if they do the whole township it’s a little cheaper per household.”
