Veterans are invited to come together, network and collaborate as part of a summit being held in Grand Blanc next Tuesday (July 11.)

The summit is the second of three that are planned for this summer.

There will be breakout sessions at the summit that focus on funding options and best practices for employment, education, healthcare and overall quality of life.

Daniel Waun is the Public Information Officer with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. He said the summit is intended for veterans and organizations based in eastern Michigan.

“What works good for a service provider in region 1 in the U.P. might not work the same for a region down in Monroe so at the summits we bring together the various different regions and they can talk and just compare notes essentially like this is what we do here this works for us what are you doing what works for you in terms of delivering services to veterans.”

Waun said many people involved in veterans issues only communicate online, and the summit will provide an opportunity for people to put a face with a name.

“The goal is to host and connect those service providers throughout Michigan, in particular the ones in the eastern part of Michigan. So they can meet, interface, share practices and collaborate with one another in a setting that’s hosted by our agency.”

Details of the summit are:
