Snyder tours flooded Isabella County

Governor Snyder says it’s important for Michiganders to “rally together” in the wake of flooding in Isabella and Midland counties.

The floods followed more than seven inches of rain fell on part of Mid-Michigan last week.

The governor toured the flooded area this Monday.

“There’s a lot of road damage in terms of roads out, culverts out, roads still underwater in a number of cases.  There’s a railroad underwater.  We have seen some neighborhoods where it’s clear the water had gone through and done damage.”

The governor plans to ask for federal aid.

An Isabella County official says the flooding has caused “tens of millions of dollars” in damage that will take years to repair.
