Listening to WCMU's main program service, WCMU News & More, is now easier than ever before. Whether on-air, online, or on your mobile device, the latest news headlines, enlightening music, and thoughtful conversations are at your finger tips.

On Your FM Radio

WCMU has eight transmitters, serving 44 of Michigan's 83 counties. They include:

WCMW-FM 103.9 Harbor Springs

WCMU-FM 89.5 Mount Pleasant

WCMB-FM 95.7 Oscoda

WCMZ-FM 98.3 Sault Ste. Marie

WWCM-FM 96.9 Standish

WCMV-FM 94.3 Traverse City

WUCX-FM 90.1 Bay City (Only from 3pm-5am weekdays; 6pm-6am Saturday/Sunday; and Noon-5am Sunday/Monday)

Current Transmitter Status

Nov. 4, 2024: WCML-FM 91.7 Alpena is operating at reduced power temporarily, due to a fire in February, 2024, at our transmitter site. Construction of a new transmitter building is underway, and the station will resume broadcasting at full power when construction is complete. Click here for more information.

Online

Listening online has never been easier. You can use the player built into the top of this webpage, or click here to launch our player in its own window. You also have the option on both to select between WCMU and WCMU Classical.

Mobile Listening

There are many options available for listening on your mobile device, including using the player at the top of this page, or using our 'Listen Live' link at WCMU.org.

You can also download the free WCMU Mobile App for your Apple or Android Device, which allows you to listen to both WCMU News and More and WCMU Classical.

When your phone is connected to a vehicle audio system, you can listen to WCMU via the WCMU Mobile App through your vehicle's speakers. If you need help connecting your phone to your car, there is a guide available specifically for Apple Devices and a general guide covering all devices.

If you have an older vehicle that does not have Bluetooth or USB compatibility, you can purchase a Bluetooth FM Transmitter. These devices generally cost under $25, and plug into the power port or cigarette lighter in your car. You can pair your mobile phone with these devices via Bluetooth, and they will then broadcast any audio playing from your phone to a channel of your choice on your FM radio. These devices are available from major online retailers, and at many brick-and-mortar retailers.

Smart Speakers

WCMU is available on many smart speakers, simply by asking it to "Play WCMU." To listen to WCMU Classical, ask your smart speaker to "Play WCMU Classical."

Smart TVs
Many smart TVs now offer an option to listen to WCMU, including Roku and Amazon Firestick devices. On these devices, please install the "TuneIn" app or channel. Once installed, you can search for WCMU.

Devices and Apps requiring a URL
You can listen to WCMU by directly entering a URL into certain devices and applications. We offer two URLs you can use for such devices:
